Pelotas Apartment Project
This project consisted of redesigning an apartment for a family of four, located in Pelotas, Brazil. The family wanted the space to reflect a mid-century modern design with local influences evident in the design.
The space was reworked to create separate bedrooms for each of the two children and a separate primary bedroom with bathroom for the parents. The living areas of the apartment were consolidated to create a large, open plan living area to foster family gatherings and engagement. Climate considerations were acknowledged by prioritizing airflow in the space with all living areas having access to at least one window and new climate systems allowing for comfort through all seasons.
Unique FF&E selections for this project included: Brazilian Pecan Wood flooring, bespoke tiling in the kitchen inspired by local Pelotas design, and couch by Oscar Niemeyer. Custom bunk bed systems were created for the children, allowing them privacy while utilizing valuable space. Sewing was a hobby of one of the clients so a bespoke textile cabinet, inspired by the Alvorada Palace was created to showcase textiles when not in use.
Project size: 350m².
Project utilized: AutoCad, SketchUp, Photoshop, Indesign.
